About Ek Tara
Eklavya Foundation is a non-profit, non-government organization that develops innovative learner-centered teaching methodologies and educational programmes.
Through its research in holistic classroom practices, teacher training methods, community education centers and a vast collection of educational literature, children's literature, magazines, textbooks and other learning aids, Eklavya Foundation has strived to support children in becoming life-long self learners with curious minds for over 40 years.
Vision
Meaningful education for all to build an egalitarian and just society on the path of sustainable development.
In the Library and Reading Initiative, we intend to foster a culture of reading among children and communities through children-led libraries called as Chakmak Clubs.
Areas of Partnership
In collaboration between Eklavya Foundation and HT Parekh Foundation, the program aims to instil the habit of reading and curiosity among children and members of the community while also placing the “Agency of the Child” at the center.
The program has following segments:

Community Libraries: These are community owned library spaces run and managed by “Resource Children” and supported by the project team. The program currently has 76 community libraries run by 10 nodal centers.

Library se Dosti: Library se Dosti is an introductory 3-month certificate course for library educators and school teachers to enhance their understanding of a library in order to promote methodologies pertinent for creating vibrant library centers.

Book Development: Eklavya has worked closely with Ayang Trust (teachers of Hummingbird School, Majuli, Assam, and Bhabook, Kolkata to develop original and translated titles in Assamese, Mising, and Bengali.
